The chicken came first!! At least to America in 1493 our chickens ancestors came here to America on a ship. Who brought them here? That’s right, Christopher Columbus introduced our chickens ancestors to the Americas! alt ho there were rumors that there was a certain breed already here but it couldent be proved.
There is evidence of domesticated fowl in Egypt in early 32BC and China. In Europe, it was 600 BC and there are about 200 varieties today
How would you like your eggs?
As you probably know, Eggs can be used for several things, including art. Here is a neat little art project you can do with eggs
You will need
3 or 4 eggs
copper wire(to make a temporary stand for the eggs)
Hollow out the eggs
Punch a hole with your needle on both ends of the egg. Move the needle around inside of the egg to break the yolk. Then blow on one end to make the egg white and yolk come out. If it does not want to come out then make the hole a little bigger and make sure the yolk is broken and try again. Once the eggs are emptied out run some water thru them to rinse them out, Pat dry And set aside.
I Took a peice of wire and fashioned it to serve as a temporary egg holder/stabilizer so now we can start decorating and alls and all that you do It keeps it steady while melting the crayons because that is exactly what you are going to do. So go ahead and fashion the little holder and put an egg in there. After you went and did all of that take the crayons and pic a color to start with. Be sure to tear the paper on the crayon back (mine caught on fire woops!!! So be very careful!!! all you do is melt the crayon over the egg and newspaper so it drips on the egg to make a pretty design. You can use different colors and put as many drips or less as you want to make those pretty little eggs. Let the wax dry and move on to the next one,(Now you see how the wire comes in handy, And that is basically that is all you do accept. The eggs are gonna need a place to go. And what better place to go? That’s right, a nest so you guessed it, we are going to make a little nest to go with them eggs.
Making the nest
I went out to my yard and picked some fresh branches off my plum tree. The really thin ones. Some morning glory vines and i had some cedar bark. First of all i started weaving the branches together but first i realized they had thorns so i had to take the scissors and remove them.I used a little fishing line to hold some in place.then a few strands of morning glory entwined in with it and last the cedar bark for the final touch. I suppose any kind of tree branch would work as long as it is flexible. While i was putting this together ,my friend came over and he said “hey why not use some hay”?so i said”ok” We ended up making one of them also ,my friend had some glue in a spray can so he shaped a nest out of hay and sprayed it with the glue. It turned out pretty good and i do give him credit for that,
Ok so now you have it and i would love to see how yours turned out! Go ahead and shoot me a line with questions or comments.I would be more than happy to get back to you
Thank you for visiting and have an AWESOME day!!!!
